Security Products Taps ASIS Resources

It’s no secret that Security Products magazine dominates the print side of the security industry, and we strive to capture the No. 1 spot with our online properties. With my promotion to Web Managing Editor, my main goal at ASIS was to promote some of the big changes that are coming to the Security Products website, as well as securing original, interesting and unique content for the website.

With the addition of new site functionalities, our intention is to become the single source for security professionals to go when they need information. We want to form a community and start a conversation, as well as to keep industry professionals abreast of the latest industry news and trends.

We live in a digital world and today’s Web surfers expect videos on-demand. So, the first new functionality we added was a featured video section, which is displayed prominently on the homepage. At my booth appointments, I asked company officials to send me videos of their products and services in action, and the response has been positive.

My favorite one we’ve received to date has to be the video of two members of the Dallas Convention Center cleaning crew stealing a laptop from the Moog booth captured by cameras rolling from Milestone’s booth. See it here. Many companies have sent me videos that are now in the queue waiting to be posted. I invite everyone to send me videos -- there’s a lot out there, and I want them all!

The next exciting service Security Products will be featuring is “Ask the Expert.”  This service is open to anyone who has a security-related technical question. If you want to know the best way to monitor your perimeters, find a visitor management solution that is effective but not intrusive, or if you’re looking for the most cost-effective way to transition to IP, e-mail us at asktheexpert@1105media.com.

For all your questions, we’ll have an expert with the answer. We are currently in the process of gathering experts in a variety of security topics. I talked to many technical people during my booth visits and many are interested in signing up to be our resident expert to field questions.  If you’re an expert who is interested, please e-mail me at smahoney@1105media.com.

We also recently launched “Ralph’s List.”  If you have security products to sell, Ralph’s List is the online marketplace for you, and it’s all free! Find out more at http://ralphslist.secprodonline.com.

This is only the beginning. Security Products will continue to add features and make improvements to the site in the coming weeks and months. Please let us know what you think, or if you have suggestions, please e-mail me at smahoney@1105media.com.

Snap One has announced its popular Luma x20 family of surveillance products now offers even greater security and privacy for home and business owners across the globe by giving them full control over integrators’ system access to view live and recorded video. According to Snap One Product Manager Derek Webb, the new “customer handoff” feature provides enhanced user control after initial installation, allowing the owners to have total privacy while also making it easy to reinstate integrator access when maintenance or assistance is required. This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.” 3
